Stephen Mullins of SORBA Pro Trails joins IMBA Trail Solutions as a Trails Specialist. Stephen will build trails in the Southeast, as well as travel the country to further his knowledge of the art and science of building sustainable trails. Stephen’s first assignment is Phase 1 of the Uwharrie Ride Center on the Wood Run Mountain Bike Trail in the Uwharrie National Forest (http://www.cs.unca.edu/nfsnc/recreation/uwharrie/index.htm), located in North Carolina’s piedmont region.

All are invited to join the IMBA-SORBA Regional Leadership Advisory Committee (RLAC), Board of Directors, staff, and the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew for a weekend of learning, digging, riding, and fun at the Nantahala Outdoor Center March 19-21, 2010. Join your friends, and immerse yourself in the beauty of Western North Carolina’s Nantahala River gorge while learning about advocacy and trail building from the Southeast’s most experienced advocates and the Trail Care Crew. Put your trail-building know-how to work at a hands-on workshop at the Tsali trail system. But, don't forget to bring your bike, because we'll have rides on Saturday and Sunday. Have a seat, relax and catch your breath on Saturday night at the TCC Club Care presentation and swag party.

This was from a ride back last May, which is the last time I made it out to FATS (and yes, it's killing me not to have ridden FATS since last May). Ed and I rode all the trails there. I was trying to get to 50 miles but we ended up with 43. It required one more loop but this was a day trip so we had to head back (yes, you can do FATS in a day from Wilmington).
